  • Attendance Improves

    Tue 26 Mar 2019
It's great that our attendance figures this year have improved. Our current figures are 96.6% (March 2019) compared to 95.1% at this time last year. This is great and thank you for all your effort; however, I must remind you as we approach summer, holidays in term time we will not be authorised. Please consider the impact this has on your child’s learning before booking a holiday. Christian Kelly

    School Councillors Lead Worship

This week the school said a huge thank you to members of the School Council during a special assembly this week as they end their term in service.

The School Council reflected on their year and all they have achieved which included fundraising for the British Heart Foundation by taking part in the Skip to be Fit challenge; collecting the views of their peers on the schools homework structure which highlighted that the majority of children are happy with the type and level of homework they receive as well as the huge benefit of the school homework clubs; attending governors meetings to feedback on their work; producing a school t-towel to raise funds for a worry and wishes box to be put into every classroom and, perhaps most importantly, being the ‘children’s voice’ in school.

Worries and wishes boxes are being distributed amongst the classes this week and next. Thank you to all parents who purchased t-towels; the governors of Bapchild and Tonge who topped up the funds to make sure every class had a box and Mrs Beech-Martin who helped put the t-towel design together. There are still limited numbers of t-towels available, should you wish to purchase one please pop into the school office.

Elections for new School Council members will be held during the week before half term; children will be expected to outline what they can bring to the school council before a blind vote is taken.

  • School is open!

Severe Snow/Ice Plan for Parents and Families

As we enter winter and start to have the first flurry of snow it is important that your

child is sent into school ready with appropriate warm coats, hats and gloves. Extreme bad weather can cause widespread and prolonged disruption. Schools are often

affected and it can be difficult to maintain an education service.

As a fundamental principle every effort must be made to keep schools open, even if

only limited numbers of pupils can attend. However schools may close due to ‘unavoidable’ circumstances. Those circumstances being that it is no longer safe for staff or pupils to be onsite.

We recognise that it is important our school remains open so parents are able to work and pupils can continue to learn. We will make every effort to prepare for severe snow/ice this winter by gritting pathways, clearing access points etc.

Please refer to the letters page for further information.

  • Wearing jewellery for PE

    Fri 18 Jan 2019
Reminder - Children should not wear jewellery to school, including any religious

jewellery. The only exception to this is the wearing of ear studs and even these have to be removed by the children for physical education. We are not able to tape over earrings

and it is not acceptable to miss PE for this reason.
