SIGNIFICANT INDIVIDUALS
We have been learning about Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong. For our class worship we created a space scene with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin taking their first steps on the moon.

We have written fact files about Christopher Columbus and his great voyage of discovery. We also imagined we were one of his shipmates and wrote messages in a bottle about our experience.
The Great Fire of London
Outside we started our own safely contained fire, and demonstrated how they would have put the fire out in 1666. We passed a bucket of water along the line and put the fire out. The wind kept the fire going and it took 4 attempts for the water to put the fire out. This was a brilliant demonstration to show the children how the wind helped the fire to spread so quickly.

During this unit we have written diary entries in the style of Samuel Pepys, written shape poems about fire, answered comprehensions, order the key events from the great fire and thought about why they rebuilt London the way they did.
