History
History Curriculum Vision
Curriculum Intent
As a school we aim to provide the children with a rich historical curriculum which inspires them to become confident, creative, inquisitive learners, whilst actively motivating the children to ask ‘why?’. A high quality historical education will help children to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of the past of Britain and the wider world. We aim to provide cross curricular links to help the children build schemas in their memory to help make more sense of their surrounding world.
Curriculum Implementation
The school children engage in three units of history across the year. Each of these units are language rich, with a wide range of vocabulary which allow our children to speak and use language like confident historians. Through critical thinking and enquiry based learning children answer and pose questions to deepen their understanding and to spark interest in this subject. We provide opportunities for extended learning through school trips and visitors.
Curriculum Impact
At Bapchild we believe in high quality teaching and learning to encourage critical thinking and to develop chronological understanding. Children will feel secure in their knowledge and understanding of British, local and world History. Rooted in God as our vine, through key vocabulary and varied topics we ensure that children will become successful learners of the past.
