Attendance

School Attendance
We believe at Bapchild and Tonge that good attendance is key to good learning. It is well known that regular attendance at school is vital to help children achieve and get the best possible start in life. We are very proud at Bapchild and Tonge that at our school pupil attendance is deemed good. This shows that the children want to be at school and that parents and carers value the education we provide. It also shows that where children struggle to attend school that they are supported to improve their attendance and punctuality and join in the exciting learning.
Please take note of the table below which gives a good picture of how your child's attendance equates to days and weeks missed from school.
Attendance in one school year | Equates to days absent | Which is approximately | Which mean means the number of lessons missed |
94% | 10 days | 2 weeks | 60 lessons |
90% | 19 days | 4 weeks | 120 lessons |
85% | 29 days | 6 weeks | 180 lessons |
80% | 38 days | 8 weeks | 240 lessons |
75% | 48 days | 10 weeks | 300 lessons |
70% | 57 days | 11.5 weeks | 345 lessons |
65% | 67 days | 13.5 weeks | 405 lessons |
To ensure that we are able to provide the best education to your child and that we don’t see a decline in attendance and punctuality it is important the school knows why children are not in school, i.e. they are sick, at the dentist etc. Punctuality is also important which also affects attendance. The school registration closes at 9.00am and any child arriving after this time will be given an unauthorised absence mark.
