PE
Term 5 - Tennis 🎾
To start our unit this term with have been practising basic skills such as an underarm throw. We have learned how to hold the racket correctly and have been practising throwing catching to a partner. We have tried really hard today to hit the ball back and forth to each other. We found this quite tricky so we made sure we were close together to make it easier. Another way we thought to make the task more achievable was to let the ball bounce between us before we hit it back to our partner.
Term 4 - Dance
In Dance this term we have looked at the poem ‘The Shadow’ by Edith Stokes.
The children have worked in pairs to make a sequence of actions that act out the poem. The idea is that in each pair one of them is the person and one is the shadow so they have to carefully copy and mirror what their partner is doing.
Outdoors Games
Today we went outside to play some outdoor games. The children worked in teams and I am sure you can see from the pictures they had a great time. Since Lockdown 3.0 and not being able to have time together as a class we thought it would be an extremely valuable experience for the children to spend some time interacting and working together with their peers in person, rather than over a live lesson. What a great afternoon. We were all winners this afternoon.
Gymnastics
This term we have started gymnastics. So far we have started looking at the different shapes our bodies can make. We also started looking at ways we can travel using different types of rolls.
Team Building Games
This term we have tried to go outside for PE as much as possible, weather permitting. We have learnt the basics of football and basketball. We have tried really hard to focus on working together as a team. Below our pictures of us working together as a team playing a simple games. Well done to Rochester and Bristol for winning the team games.
