    Confirmed COVID-19 Case

Having been informed late on Monday afternoon that a child in year 1 had tested positive for Covid-19 the school followed the government guidelines, contacted Public Health England and, acting on their advice, asked all pupils in the relevant year group to remain at home for the next 14 days.

It is clear that the children did not contract the virus whilst at school and it is hoped that the swift action taken will prove effective in ensuring that there is no further spread of the disease within the community. Letters provided by Public Health England have been sent to all parents appraising them of the situation and offering further guidance and phone calls were made to the parents in year 1.

We continue to reassure parents of other pupils within the school that Bapchild and Tonge continues to administer rigorously all of the guidance regarding hygiene measures in order to minimise the possibility of any transmission occurring during the school day.

We send our best wishes to the child and family for a swift and speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming our Year 1 children back soon.

  • COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

    Mon 09 Mar 2020
The School takes the safety and well-being of all its pupils, staff and parents very seriously and has clear plans in place if there was a case or outbreak within the school or local community. The school follows the advice from Public Health and Department for Education and is updated on a daily basis. The school has ensured that it supports children and staff to thoroughly wash their hands or sneeze into tissues. There is currently no direction to close the school and therefore children should be in and attending. We will continue to update our advice as and when it is appropriate.
