World Book Day 2025
World Book Day 2025
For World Book Day 2025, we had a poetry theme where staff and children could explore and enjoy the world of POETRY whilst wearing their comfy pyjamas! We began with a worship where our book club recited a WBD poem, and then we were very lucky to be able to watch a personalised video clip of the marvellous poet, Joshua Siegal, tell us all about being a poet. We also got to listen to him read some of his favourite poems and he also answered some of our children's questions.

During the day, each class explored reading lots of different poems by different poets, had a go at writing their own and then performed a favourite poem to the rest of the school: Year One performed 'The Sound Collector' by Roger McGough; Year Two performed 'The Crayon Poem' and 'Splish, Splash, Splosh!' by James Carter; Year Three performed Brian Moses' 'I'm walking with my Iguana'; Year Four performed 'Cartoons' by Joshua Siegal; Year Five performed 'Please, Mrs Butler' (with a twist) by Allan Ahlberhg; and Year Six performed 'Granny, Can You Rap?' by Jack Ousbey. Come into school and see our display of wonderful poems written by our children and videos of their performances.
Do you have a favourite poet or poem?

We held a Pet Poetry Competition in honour of Joshua Siegal's cat - Bluebell. We had some fantastic entries, but here are our KS1 and 2 WINNERS!

World Book Day 2024
We enjoyed dressing up for world book day as our favourite story characters. Can you guess who we are? WE thought about our favourite authors and we wrote them letters asking questions about the books they have written. Some of the authors wrote back to us too! We invited staff members to share their favourite stories and they read them during our world book day worship. What is your favourite story?
