World Awareness Week 2025

World Awareness Week 2025

For WAW Week this year we explored other world faiths around the globe. We celebrated and learned about a different religion each day, looking at beliefs, daily routines, special books and places of worships. We were lucky enough to endure a school trip per trip, including a virtual tour.

On Monday we explored Christianity, deepening our knowledge and understanding based around our UC units. Year R and Year 6 took a trip to Canterbury Cathedral! They had so much creating their own stained glass windows, touring the cathedral and finding out all about the architecture of the Cathedral.

On Tuesday we learned about Judaism. Year 2 and Year 4 travelled to Chatham to visit the Synagogue to learn about a Jewish place of worship. The children were so well behaved and managed to tour the entire synagogue. The children got to hold many special Jewish object and even got to look at a real Torah Scroll!

On Wednesday we learned about Islam. The children had great fun exploring the Qur'an and sharing artefacts around the school! Year 1 and Year 5 went to the Sittingbourne Islamic Cultural Centre. The children listened to the 'call to Prayer' by the Imam, they toured the Mosque and looked at many special objects!

On Thursday we learned about the Sikhi Faith. The children had fun collaging and baking in school while Year 2 and Year 3 went the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Gravesend. The children were welcomed with Langar (Community Kitchen) and learned about the religion and different Guru's that are worshipped.

On Friday we learned about Hindu Dharma. The children enjoyed baking sweet treats in school and learning about the different Gods and Goddesses. Year R, 3 and 4  enjoyed a virtual tour around a Hindu Temple,  The Hindu Mandir n Gravesend. the children saw statues of the Gods and Goddesses and learned about Diwalli, the festival of light.

The children were fantastic all week! It was so wonderful to see all classes enjoying a trip out and it could not have possible without the flexibility of staff and parents dropping off and collecting at the train station all week. It was greatly appreciated and we thank you so much for your support, enabling us to provide rich learning opportunities for our children.
