Parents and Carers Resources
Here you will find a variety of information related to SEND and Inclusion. Should you require any of this information to be printed please ask at the School Office.
As a parent/carer, it can be hard to know what to do if you have any concerns. Your first step should involve having a conversation with your child's teacher. They spend the most time with your child and they will be able to share with your their observations and experiences of your child at school. It is important to note that children can often present very differently at school to how they do at home, therefore this is why an open dialogue is so important - to ensure we gain a detailed picture of the whole child, in all different environments.
There are many levels to SEN Support and your child does not need to have a diagnosis or an EHCP to receive this. As professionals, we will monitor your child and determine what we feel would be most beneficial for them whilst they are at school. Sometimes this can involves us seeking the guidance of external specialists such as an Occupational Therapist and/or a Speech and Language Therapist. We can also offer support with life at home too, linking you to external agencies and areas which can provide the tools you may need.
If you have a concern, it is important that it is dealt with efficiently. To ensure the monitoring process begins in a timely manner, we ask that you complete a Parent/Carer Referral Form. This enables us to gather all of the information, as well as your concerns, to start the monitoring process. The outcome of such monitoring may see your child be put on a Personalised Plan or there may be a conversation about visiting your Doctor for further investigation. As a school we can support you with this process and collate our evidence to share with any other professionals. Evidence can consist of observations, reports and assessments.
