Term 5 - Fractions
We have worked super hard this term on fractions. We have looked and both unit and non-unit fractions. We have recognised 1/2, 1/4 and 1/3 of a shape and started to find 1/2, 1/4 and 1/3 of an amount. Using a bar model has really helped up to share the whole into equal parts. Below are pictures of us finding 1/3 of 9. We shared the whole (9) between 3 equal parts of a bar model. We found that 1/3 of 9 = 3. We used this strategy to help us find 1/3 of other amounts.
Term 4 - Shape
Since coming back from Lockdown 3.0 we have continued to learn about 2D and 3D shapes. The children have really enjoyed this unit and it has made a nice change from the large amount of number work we did during home learning and the live lessons.
